What is fat freezing?

Fat freezing is a medical procedure used where your fat cells are frozen so that they die off. During the process only fat cells are affected and it doesn’t cause damage to any other cells in your body.

Is the process painful?

Fat freezing shouldn’t be painful. It may feel a little unusual and uncomfortable but it’s relatively pain free. It will feel very cold, afterall it is called fat freezing! The process is non-invasive which means it doesn’t involve surgery so anaesthetic is not required. This means that there is no recovery period, you can go about your day just as you planned. You may feel like you’ve had a work out for a couple of days after the treatment.

What happens during the treatment?

The treatment usually lasts less than an hour. A suction cup will be applied to the area in which you are having treatment and this will start to freeze the fat cells. The area may feel numb whilst the treatment is taking place. The process will need to be repeated so ensure that you budget accordingly otherwise your treatment will not be successful if you miss follow up appointments. You can’t repeat the treatment too soon because you have to give your body time to respond and to remove the dead cells. Your body naturally breaks down the unwanted cells and flushes them out of your body via the liver.  Results can be seen immediately but you should wait 8-12 weeks to see the desired result. Treatments can be repeated every 4 weeks.
