When you’ve made the decision to go ahead with laser hair removal, you’ll need to prepare for your session. Here are a few pointers to help you get ready.Â
Get exfoliating!
If you’ve got a few days before your first session then I’d start exfoliating and getting rid of that dead skin. Exfoliating the skin helps shed any skin that hasn’t been naturally expelled. You can do this in a few ways, with either an exfoliating tool like a flannel, a granular substance like a sugar scrub or a chemical exfoliant. Â
There is no need to scrub too hard like you’re cleaning the floor, it’s just a light buff on the surface of the skin. Get rid of all that nasty dry skin and leave you smooth as a baby’s bum!
No fake tan!
Don’t put any fake tan on and steer away from the spray tan. Your skin needs to be fresh and tan free for us to be able to do laser hair removal. This is so important to make sure that the tan doesn’t alter the colour of your skin and therefore cause the laser to cause damage to it. Don’t worry you can apply it again 48 hours after!
Stop hair removal methods!
Avoid all other hair removal methods apart from shaving before the appointment. This includes waxing, depilatory cream, threading, sugaring and epilating. If you choose to remove the hair using one of these methods then you will slow down the effects of the treatment. Remember, the more hairs that are present at the appointment the better your session will be and the more hairs that will be destroyed.Â
The day before your appointment shave all the areas that are being treated with a new, clean razor. This will make sure that the area is hair free and ready for treatment. Don’t worry if you miss a few stragglers I can always whip them off whilst you’re here!
Stop this on the day
Don’t apply to many products on the skin on the day of your appointment. The less creams on the skin the better. This makes it easier for the laser to reach into the skin and no energy is wasted trying to get through your moisturiser.Â
So, that’s it. Just a few things you’ll need to do before you come for treatment.
